Our Personal Assistant Service

Since 2006, we have been helping folks with an almost open-ended list of projects, including cleaning, organizing, landscaping, errand-running, moving, painting, fixing things, researching - you get the point. Our original vision was to create a service that offered "part-time Personal Assistants" to work with our clients, but we have since evolved to work for people, too. We're trusted with keys to buildings and given to-do lists, which we attack on our own. We do so much work for the same people that we often times sneak in to attack a project and boogie out completely unnoticed.

Our enthusiasm to work with clients continues to introduce us to new people for more reasons than we even know of. We understand that sometimes things need to be done a certain way. It can be hard to delegate a task that you have been doing on your own for most of your life. There's a delicate balance between welcoming a stranger to help you with personal matters, and relying on family or friends. While most professionals just want to scoot in, do their thing their own way and leave, we actually rely on the input of the customer. We're thrilled that we can keep the constructive dialogue open for as long as we help.

The Price of our Personal Assistant service is simply $40.00 / Hour / Assistant.:

Please do not pay your Assistant (except tips, of course). We will send you a bill in the mail. We accept checks, money orders, and Discover / MasterCard / VISA over the phone.

Tips & Tricks

How to get the most out of our service:

! If you’re new to the WYN family, make sure to take advantage of our free consultations.

! Remember that we are your Personal Assistants – we expect that you will take the time to show us exactly what you want us to do and how to do it.

! We know that it’s hard sometimes, but please don’t hesitate to ask for help.

! Work with your Assistant as much as you can – This will ensure that the task will be performed as you wish and you may find yourself a little extra motivated after looking at the progress that you personally can make.

! Have a problem that you know that your Assistant can’t solve? Ask anyway … we might know someone who has the answer.

! Be Prepared – Buy anything that your Assistant will need to complete your tasks, make a detailed list of tasks or questions as you think of them, and don’t be afraid to call us for advice before your Assistant arrives. The more that you prepare, the harder your Assistant can work for you.

! Expect to start early – Our Assistants usually arrive about 15 minutes prior to their scheduled start-time.

Personal Assistant
Specific FAQs

Q: Should I tip my Assistant?

A: Giving your Assistant a bonus – of any amount – is a great way to thank them for their hard work. Gifts of chocolate and high-end sports cars are also welcome.

Q: What can and what can’t my Assistant do?

A: Great question – There’s no short answer to this, but the rule of thumb is that we can do whatever task somebody can give us proper instruction and materials to complete. Here are some guidelines -

! We obviously have physical limitations – Please don’t ask us to lift your refrigerator over our head with one hand while we dust the wall behind it with the other and hang framed art with our toes. We might try, and although entertaining, results probably won’t be satisfactory.

! Safety is a very high priority – We simply avoid situations with the potential of injuring ourselves or anyone else and we hope that our clients will trust our judgment when we opt not do work because of unsafe conditions.

! The law. We won’t handle controlled substances (illegal drugs, hazardous materials). We won’t operate machines or vehicles that we aren’t licensed to (semi-tractor trailer trucks). We won’t offer services or give advice that warrant the services or advice of a qualified professional (fertilizer application, accounting/tax issues, law, plumbing, electrical, etc.).

Q: Can I request a particular Assistant to work with?

A: Absolutely. Our Assistants have unique backgrounds, sets of skills, personalities, styles, work ethics – the list goes on, so please do request who you feel will help you the best.

Q: Should I pay my Assistant before he or she leaves?

A: No, please don’t. The Assisting part of WYN is completely separate from the money part, so let us just send you an invoice at the end of the month. Tips can be given directly to your Assistant or mailed with your payment, as long as you include a note to tell us what to do with the additional money.

Q: Should I schedule my next visit with my Assistant?

A: Since our requests from clients change constantly, we sometimes run into scheduling snafus when Assistants commit to a particular day and time for their next visit. It’s fine to make tentative plans, but make sure to contact the main office via phone or E-mail to confirm ASAP.

Q: Do you give free estimates?

A: Actually, we don't give estimates at all. This is another feature that sets us apart from other businesses (and even the Handyman side of Whatever You Need). Since we're just here to help, we rely on our customers to provide guidelines about how jobs should be completed, and since we charge by the hour, our clients have complete control over how much they spend.
